Evaluation of a bleeding patient involves the following tests

  1. Protrombin time
  2. Partial Thromboplastin Time
  3. Thrombin Time
  4. Platelet Count
  5. Bleeding time
  6. Assessment of coagulation factor level

When a factor deficiency is found it may be due to inhibitors of coagulation or a congenital deficiency. These may be differentiated by mixing studies.
